Karl XII
Life period:
1682–1718
King Karl XII had himself crowned. As an autocrat, did not need the approval of the church. The king spent most of his reign on the battlefield, and was killed in Norway in 1718. Sweden's period as a great power drew to a close with the death of Karl XII.
