The Royal Stables

For more than a hundred years, the Royal Stables have been located at Väpnargatan 1 on Östermalm in Stockholm. The main duty of the Royal Stables is planning and providing transport for the Royal Family, both by car and horse-drawn carriages.

The Royal Stables trace their history back to the time of King Gustav Vasa. Today, horses and carriages are used for state visits, when The King receives new ambassadors, and for the opening of the Parliamentary Session.

Horses and carriages are used for ceremonial and official occasions such as incoming state visits, State Opening of Parliament, formal audiences at which the King receives new ambassadors, and municipal visits.

The Royal Stables trace their roots back to the time of King Gustav Vasa, making them a significant part of our cultural heritage in terms of classic art of riding and driving.

The Royal Stables are also responsible for administering, developing and showing this heritage to the public. Visitors are welcome all year round for guided tours.
