Karl XIII
Life period:
1748–1818
Following the coup d'état against Gustav IV Adolf, Karl XIII was named king after approving the Constitution Act of 1809. Since the king had no heirs of his own, he adopted the 47-year-old Frenchman Jean Baptiste Bernadotte in 1810.
